What this mark certifies

This mark confirms that an employer genuinely supports current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families through its recruitment, employment and workplace practices. Veteran status brings valuable skills and particular needs, and the mark recognises employers who have translated goodwill into concrete practice.

It is a practice mark. It certifies documented policies and demonstrated practices, not a statement of sentiment, and the business must satisfy a defined number of the supporting elements to qualify.

Certification requirements

• The business demonstrates a minimum of three of the following, a veteran recruitment or transition pathway, reservist leave provisions beyond the statutory minimum, formal recognition of military skills and experience in hiring, flexible arrangements that support service related needs, a documented policy that supports ex service personnel, and measurable veteran employment within the workforce.

• The business holds a current Australian Business Number.

Evidence required

• Employment and recruitment policies.

• The reservist leave policy.

• Evidence of veteran employment or supporting programs.

• A signed declaration.

How it is assessed

The certifier verifies the policies and practices against the three element threshold and records the certified position.

Re-verification and monitoring

Certification is valid for twelve months and is subject to annual re-verification against the three element threshold.

Grounds for refusal, suspension or revocation

Certification is refused, suspended or revoked where the business falls below the three element threshold, or where the supporting policies are withdrawn.

Contractual obligations on the badge holder

In addition to the core terms of the CAQA Certified Licence Agreement in Section 4, a holder of this mark agrees to the following obligations specific to this badge.

   The holder must maintain a minimum of three of the certified supporting elements throughout the licence term.

   The holder must notify CAQA in writing within fourteen days if the supporting policies are withdrawn or the business falls below the three element threshold.

   The holder warrants that the policies and employment information provided are true and current.
